You Can Take the Brate Out of the Balkans

Belgrade street scene

There's a particular kind of person who grew up eating ćevapi at a backyard BBQ in Rockdale, watching their uncle park a Holden Commodore three inches from the fence and call it close enough. Who learned that you never leave someone's house without eating something, and that refusing a second plate is basically an international incident.

This person is you. Possibly. And if it is — hi. You're one of us.

The Balkan diaspora in Australia is one of the least-talked-about, most-present subcultures in this country. We're everywhere. Tradies, architects, nurses, chefs, the guy at your local servo who gives you an extra 5 cents off and winks like he's doing something illegal. We came here with a suitcase, a recipe for burek, and an attitude that can only be described as: I've seen worse.

TOURIST. was built for exactly that energy. Streetwear that carries the weight of two places at once — the country you grew up hearing about, and the one you actually grew up in. The BALKAN WAREHOUSE corduroy hat isn't a souvenir. It's a thesis statement.

You can take the brat out of the Balkans. But you can't take the Balkans out of the brat.

That's not a complaint. That's a flex.

TOURIST FASHION makes Balkan streetwear for the Australian diaspora. Born somewhere between the Black Sea and Bondi.
